NanoStructuring

Besides high resolution imaging, the STM tip allows the direct manipulation and investigation of the interaction of single atoms and molecules via nanoablation. Since writing, reading and erasing cycles have been realized, possible application of direct molecular writing of nanosized patterns may be in the area of massive data storage.
Guided Self-assembly

By utilizing a special process of adsorption and self-assembly, we achieve nanoscale guided growth of semiconductor nanostructures

NanoExtraction

The tip of the AFM als well as Laser ablation is used for mechanical manipulation of surfaces. The aim is to develop a versatile procedure for extraction and detection of minute material quantities. High resolution mass spectroscopy (SIMMS) as well as biochemical methods such as PCR-amplification are used for analysis.
